What is DAST (Dynamic Application Security Testing)?

Dynamic Application Security Testing (DAST) tests a running web application or API from the outside, the way an attacker would, by sending crafted requests and analysing the responses. It finds runtime issues such as injection, misconfigurations and authentication flaws without needing access to source code.

Code can look safe and still run unsafe.

Misconfigured servers, missing headers and flaws that only appear at runtime slip past code scanners. DAST attacks the running app, and HostX analysts validate the results so your team fixes real, reproducible issues.

Frequently asked questions

DAST is automated and repeatable, ideal for frequent coverage. A penetration test is manual and finds complex issues such as business-logic flaws. Most teams run DAST continuously and pentest at least once a year.
Texture background pattern

Test every release, not just once a year.
